Charitable Giving Criteria

Over the years The Maple Trust has made gifts to a wide range of charities working both in Scotland and overseas.

Following a review in 2025, the focus of the Trust’s grant making is now on the following criteria:

  • Children and Young People – Scotland-wide

The Trust will consider applications for grants from charities registered in the United Kingdom, with projects based in Scotland and with an annual income of less that £500,000.

We also restrict applications to specific groups of local authority regions on a rotational basis.

We will accept funding requests up to £10k.

The Trust does not normally support:

  • Political organisations
  • Retrospective grants
  • Student, personal travel or expeditions
  • General capital appeals or mail shots

In exceptional circumstances the Trust may consider making grants to individuals.
