Charitable Giving Criteria

Over the years The Maple Trust has made gifts to a wide range of charities working both in Scotland and overseas.   Following a review in 2023, the focus of the Trust’s grant making is now on the following criteria:

  • Children and Young People – Scotland-wide

The Trust will consider applications for grants from charities registered in the United Kingdom, with preference being given to charitable organisations operating from Scotland and with an annual income of less that £500,000.

The Trust does not normally support:

  • Political organisations
  • Retrospective grants
  • Student, personal travel or expeditions
  • General capital appeals or mail shots

In exceptional circumstances the Trust may consider making grants to individuals.

The following is a selection of charitable organisations that the Trust has supported over the past few years –

Sistema Scotland
Beacon Arts Centre
Homestart Aberdeen
Wee Haven Youth Project
Families First St Andrews
Hebridean Pursuits Outdoor Learning
The Stove Network
